Ellen Lupton Poster

Meant to be both a commemorative and promotional poster for Ellen Lupton's March 31, 2012 visit to speak for AIGA Houston. This was my first attempt at a letterpress piece.

An ode to the children’s book by the same name, Lupton’s “Welcome to Busytown” lecture discussed the rapidly changing profile of a graphic designer. Having been a fan of hers for years, Ellen always struck me as an old soul, and I drew inspiration from old silhouette portraits (my grandparents had several in their home). The final piece was a big hit with both the audience and Ms. Lupton.

This project was featured on UnderConsideration's FPO blog.
